You can’t record Cell Phone call without Permission

You can’t record Cell Phone call without Permission

Before we begin, you should know that tapping cell phones calls without permission is obviously very illegal. Recording a cell phone call, even your own, is possibly illegal too. There are state laws and federal laws that you should check before you start recording cell phone calls.

“The federal Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2510 et seq., prohibits the willful interception of telephone communication by means of any electronic, mechanical, or other device without an applicable exemption. In the absence of more restrictive state law, it is permissible to intercept and record a telephone conversation if one or both of the parties to the call consents. Consent means authorization by only one participant in the call; single-party consent is provided for by specific statutory exemption under federal law. 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2511(2)(d).”

This is just federal law. Your own state law might have stricter laws on cell phone recorders taping your cell phone calls. And if you’re calling someone in another state, THEIR state might have even stricter laws on it. In the end, if you get into some kind of trouble over recording a cell phone call, they can use whatever federal or state law they want against you. Even if it’s a state law from the state of the person you called and not your own state. Watch out and be smart when you record!!!!

What is Voice Logging?

Voice logging is a device used to record audio from telephones, radios, microphones and other sources. Voice data is typically stored on hard drives, RAID drives (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), or SAN storage solutions. Logging voice is another way of saying it. Voice logging is the practice of regularly recording audio, usually in a business situation. In business settings, users find many benefits to recording there conversations. Logging voice data can be handled at on location, remotely, or a combination of both. There are two basic modes for recording: vox mode, which is voice-activated, and non-vox mode, in which the recording is continuous. This allows businesses to keep records, improve customer service, increase security, and decrease errors. Although Voice logging is synonymous with telephone recording, or phone recording, it includes also recording the radio and VoIP conversations. The word "logging" comes from the log of calls or audio files that is generated as each recording is made.

Types of Voice Logging: Voice Loggers

There are three types of business phone recorders:
  1. The analog systems.
  2. Digital systems.
  3. Software only systems.

Logging Voice data is an imporant  because it provides your business with examples of what not to do as well as what to do, when on custmer calls. There are also some legal issues about logging voice data to be aware of, related to notification of either one party or two, (check your state recording laws here)
